Our mission
To fund scholarships for orphans and cover the school costs of the most deprived.

About us
In memory of Mbissai Josué — so that academic excellence is no longer a privilege in Burundi.
Our story
Mbissai Josué scored 20/20 in mathematics in the 2023 science biochemistry baccalaureate, in Burundi, at the age of 16. A result that travelled from staffroom to staffroom — not as a curiosity, but as proof: excellence can be born anywhere.
In 2024 this brilliant young man was brutally taken from life. Those who knew him — family, teachers, classmates — refused to let his name go out. The Mbissai Josué Foundation was born of that refusal.
We are not here to be a memorial plaque. We are here to open classrooms, to pay school fees, to put a tutor beside a pupil who doubts themselves. Every scholarship is one more sentence in his biography.
“Excellence is not a privilege, it is a destiny.”

To fund scholarships for orphans and cover the school costs of the most deprived.
A future in which every child, wherever they are, has the chance to learn and to excel.
Excellence · Solidarity · Integrity · Love of neighbour · Respect · Perseverance
Burundi — Bujumbura, Gitega, Ngozi, Rumonge and the rural hills.
What holds us
We believe merit has no address. Aiming for 20/20 is not arrogance: it is discipline.
Whoever has been given a chance owes another one to someone else. The foundation is a chain, not a counter.
Every franc received is a franc accounted for. Sponsors know who, what for, and with what result.
A young person is not a file. They are a face, a home, a calling. We accompany the person.
From the hills to the lecture halls, everyone is entitled to dignity. We never humiliate poverty.
Excellence is built over time. We do not abandon a pupil at the first difficulty.

The team
The foundation is carried by the family, by volunteer teachers and by local partners. Decisions on awards are taken around a table, with the files open and the faces known. We answer to those who give, and first of all to those who receive.
